About the Providers~
James E Mullen, M.D.
Dr. Mullen attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he completed his doctoral course work in Exercise Physiology in 1984, and his M.D. in 1988. He completed an Internal Medicine internship in 1989 and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency in 1992 at State University of New York at Buffalo.
Prior to opening his clinic in November of 2006, he worked with Howard Young Medical Center/ Ministry Medical Group. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. His professional affiliations include the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American College of Sports Medicine, and the Wisconsin Medical Society.
He has many personal athletic accomplishments: Six times a member U.S. National Speedskating Team, Multiple top 200 American Birkebeiner finishes, still actively racing, and Inducted March 2007 into the Wisconsin Soccer Association Hall of Fame. His special interest in Sports Medicine stems from his past personal experiences as an athlete. He enjoys working toward sport enhancement with athletes and injury prevention as well as rehabilitation when necessary.
Dr. Mullen enjoys working with patients of all ages and abilities enabling them to make the most of their functional abilities and well-being.
Judy Larson, MPH, PT
Judy Larson attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1976. In 1991 she received a Masters in Public Health from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Ms. Larson practice experience includes: inpatient, outpatient, home health, long term care and sports medicine. She describes her practice as functionally based, engaging active patient involvement in their rehabilitation. She has special interest in spinal and orthopedic interventions, manual-soft tissue treatment with certification in active release technique.
Ms. Larson and her husband Mark, have three grown children. In her free time she enjoys music, reading, studying and refereeing soccer.
Sara Keuler, MPT,certMDT
Sara received a masters degree in Physical Therapy from Marquette University in 2002. She has worked as a physical therapist in northern Wisconsin since 2002, in addition to working as a traveling PT in Oregon, Maine, and Vermont.
She enjoys utilizing a multifaceted approach in working with all patients. Sara received her credentialing certificate through The McKenzie Institute for mechanical diagnosis and therapy for spine and extremity problems in 2009.
Enjoys all the outdoor opportunities the Northwood's has to offer including skiing, biking, camping and boating.
The History of Premier Physical Medicine & Wellness Clinic
Premier Physical Medicine and Wellness Clinic was formed as the result of Dr. Mullen’s vision to meet the needs of his patients and the community. He began this venture in the fall of 2006. He had been practicing medicine in the Minocqua/Woodruff area for 14 years. The new clinic facility opened in December of 2008.
The vision includes creating an inclusive musculoskeletal clinic where patient care is optimized by ease of information to and from providers and support service. Goals include providing a multidisciplinary approach and integrative medicine to serve the patients and the community.
